Check-In requirements

Travel Documents

Depending on where you are going, you will need different documents, such as Visas and health certificates. You will always need your ticket, passport, boarding pass and photographic identity.

Check-In

You can use the airport check-in kiosk to check in, choose your seat and print your boarding pass. The kiosks are available at most of the airports and are user-friendly. They even have an audio option for those who are visually impaired. There are also language options for English, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish or Thai.

Business Class Lounges

United Airlines has a long list of membership lounges, all with fantastic amenities. However, there does not seem to be one in any of the Nigerian airports just yet.

Domestic Flights

United airlines have four airports listed in Nigeria. These are Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kaduna. However, we were not able to find flights that connected these airports, leading us to believe that there are no domestic flight options in Nigeria.

You can take a flight from Nigeria to almost anywhere in the world.

United Airlines Baggage Policy

Checked Baggage

Checked in baggage comes with a service charge, but even then your bags may not be too heavy. Maximum weight restrictions for Economy class is 23 kgs, and for Business class it is 30 kgs.

Cabin or Hand Baggage

All passengers, except for those flying Basic Economy class, are permitted to carry one bag as well as one personal item (such as a handbag or laptop bag). Basic Economy fliers may only bring one carry on bag, the size of a personal item bag. The maximum dimensions for a carry-on bag are 9 inches x 14 inches x 22 inches (22 cm x 35 cm x 56 cm), including handles and wheels. The maximum dimensions for the personal item bag are 9 inches x 10 inches x 17 inches (22 cm x 25 cm x 43 cm), this should ideally allow the bag to fit under the seat.

Excess Baggage

Bags that exceed the weight limit will be charged over and above the checked in baggage fee.
