About Meridiana Airlines
Founded in 1963, this airline has undergone many name changes. Starting off as Alisarda, then in 1991 changing to Meridiana. The most recent change was in February 2018, when the airline became Air Italy. This new name also brought new routes, including the line to Lagos.
The airline now has a fleet of 8 Boeing 737 NG and 3 Boeing 767-300. They pride themselves in having well-maintained aircrafts, being the first Italian airline to receive the Maintenance Organisation Certification.
General Flight Information
Travel documents
All adult passengers must show photographic identity documents at check-in. For international flights, relevant Visas are also required. The most important document is, of course, your ticket.
Check-in
Check-in for passengers flying to/from Lagos opens 4 hours prior to departure and closes 90 minutes before take-off.
Online Check-In
The airline has an online check-in option only for selected airports and destinations. There is no web check-in option for those departing from Lagos.
Business Class Lounges
Most of the connecting airports have business lounges available for passengers belonging to the relevant clubs. The airport in Lagos does not, however, have a lounge available.
Domestic Flights
There are no domestic flights offered within Nigeria.
International Flights
Flights are offered from Lagos to Rome, Naples and Milan.

Meridiana Airlines Baggage Policy
Checked in baggage
Free baggage allowance
Depending on which class you are flying, baggage allowance will fluctuate; for example, those flying Economy Light are allowed no free baggage, while those flying Economy Classic can take one baggage piece with a max weight of 23 kg. Business class passengers can take two pieces of luggage at a max weight of 32 kg each.
Excess baggage
Any baggage outside of the passenger’s allowance will be charged for, as well baggage that exceeds the weight and/or dimensions limit.
Cabin or Hand Baggage
Passengers may carry one piece of luggage onboard with them, this may not exceed a weight of 8kg. Additionally, you are allowed personal items such as handbags, laptops and baby carriers. For infants, a 10 kg piece of baggage is allowed to carry on as well. Pets in carriers may be allowed in the cabin, provided the restrictions set by the airline are met.
