In May 1932, EGYPTAIR came into existence, and with that, it became the seventh carrier in the world. In 1933, they took their maiden flight, which took passengers from Cairo to Alexandria.
Fast forward to July 2008, and EGYPTAIR joins the Star Alliance network, which is the largest airline alliance in the world. EGYPTAIR’s membership to the Star Alliance is unique, as it is the only airline in North Africa and the Middle East to be part of it.

General Flight Information
The airline is not responsible for any refunds to passengers in the event of them arriving at the airport with the incorrect identification, passport, VISA or boarding pass.
For domestic travel, a valid form of identification and a boarding pass is required to board the aircraft. For international travel, a valid passport, boarding pass, and any relevant VISA are required before boarding.
Like with most airlines nowadays, there are three methods of checking in. You are able to check-in online, on your smartphone or at the airport. Check-in deadlines vary depending on which method you choose.
If you are traveling internationally, check-in closes 60 minutes before the designated time of departure. For domestic flights, the check-in closes 30 minutes before the designated time of departure.
Business Class Lounges
EGYPTAIR has business lounges situated at all the airports in Egypt, with guests being able to enjoy light meals, drinks, WiFi, access to work tables and all the essentials you would need before a flight or while in transit.

EGYPTAIR Baggage Policy
The number of pieces of checked baggage and the weight of each bag varies from ticket type to ticket type and membership status. Please consult the airline well in advance of your flight to ensure your checked baggage will meet the requirements once you reach the airport.
Any and all baggage weighing between 24 and 32 kgs will have a penalty attached. This penalty ranges from 30 USD to 400 USD depending on the country you are coming from are going to.
With regards to prohibited items that can not be taken onto the aircraft, please refer to EGYPTAIR’s website. The weight of your carry-on must not exceed 7 kgs, please refer to the airlines’ website for further details relating to country of origin, liquids, duty-free etc.
